And unfortunately your comparison to blacks is a bit off. Black people can't hide their skin color. Can't keep that a secret, Patrick. So please quit comparing sexuality to race. The two aren't the same. Which may have something to do with the fact why the military was desegregated over 60 years ago and sexuality is just now being addressed. No redneck, here. I don't need to call anyone names to state my case. Shame you do.

Oh so theres a sudden epidemic of people now who didn't know they were gay prior to getting in the military. Why this is new news----TO ALL OF US.
Well that's life in the big city.
They all should back whatever they owe if the military says they owe it. They all should pay whatever they owe so that it can serve as a wake up call for any other gay people who want to join the military post DADT.
Why I should support foreign wars in the first place when the gay population here can't even get off their butts to fight for their own civil rights-----as we watch Egyptians do the leg work that's needed when people are serious and not full of cowardice and hot wind.
So Dan should pay the government as should any other gay person who received a love letter in the mail from the Pentagon for not being truthful day one.
Yes, penalize the gay warmongers. They should pay back every single dime with accrued interests.
I'm not supporting their need to go elsewhere and fight wars when no one is fighting the war that should be fought right here right now in the good old US of A.
Fight the war that's needed here. Then we'll talk about working with the Pentagon about those love letters they sent out.

Oh please. Don't Ask Don't Tell is the best thing that ever happened to Dan Choi CLEARLY. A couple of grand in payback to the govt ----Choi should give it back with thanks and gratitude. No longer is he some gay drone in the military nobody cared about other than for him to do his job and shut up---which is why he came out in the first place. Such anonymity was just too painful for narcissist such as Choi to endure.
Now he's a household name. He needs to pay the money back and get over it. He's gotten more outta the military than it ever got outta him. And ten years from now he'll still be getting more from the military.
For Choi, Don't Ask Don't Tell is the gift that keeps on giving. And he couldn't be more pleased. Pay the money back guy.

Which is why since he knew he was gay he should've never agreed to enter the military in the first place. There was no gun aimed at his head to do that.
I don't owe the gov't $$ over lies. I owe what I owe to them because I've agreed to pay it based on my taxpayer status. If they audit my taxes and found out I lied I'm going to get penalize for that. I'll have no choice but to pay the penalty for lying.
Dan shouldn't have signed up for the military at all. He shouldn't have agreed to play the game they were asking him to play if he wasn't willing to play it fully. There's no excuse for him CHOOSING to do that.
That's all there is to it. The guy should pay up and shut up.
