James Martin

James Martin was born and raised in the Central Florida area where he attended school and became an active member in the community. In addition to being a tutor at a local middle school and community college, he has been a member/volunteer in several organizations including: Operation Homebound/Hugs and Wishes, Key Club International, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society, and the University of Central Florida Astronomical Society.

In the Spring of 2008, James was selected to work on an international research project in the College of Optics and Photonics. He is presently working on a remote detection system for applications in Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy experiments. James is co-author on a paper that will be presented in Berlin this September, and later presented in Rochester in October.
