Mission
Left Foot Organics is dedicated to the belief that all people have the right to develop and demonstrate their abilities through productive work and community involvement. Left Foot puts this belief into action by providing employment and on-the-job life skills training to people with developmental disabilities and rural, at-risk youth on an organic farm. Program participants work together to grow, harvest and sell high quality, fresh, certified organic produce and flowers in a supportive, challenging environment where everyone''s contribution is welcomed and valued. Marketing fresh produce direct to the consumer gives people with developmental disabilities and youth an opportunity to see themselves as part of a larger world that they have the ability to affect. They build the meaningful community and personal relationships that are so important to their quality of life while they learn skills that prepare them for greater independence and a successful transition to adulthood. At the same time, direct marketing helps educate the public about the value of each and every person in their community, regardless of their particular abilities.
