Prepare some pieces that could be published in the editorial section of local newspapers that addresses the question:
The Dream Act: What it says and Does not say.
Prepare other pieces that show statistics relative to what happens in society when large numbers of young people do not graduate from High School. Tie this to the Dream Act. If we pass the Dream Act students who are undocumented know they have a chance at more education; if we fail to pass it, many undocumented - especially from poor families - will say why should I stay in school when I cannot go on to college. They will choose to drop out so they can get a job and help their struggling parents with household expenses and put some money in their own packet. In the long run they will contribute much less to our tax base than they would have if they could have gotten an education commensurate with their academic potential.
It reminds me of the stone called a Geode ... it does not look at all attractive on the outside; you have to crack it open to see the gorgeous colors of the crystals within. Without the Dream Act we will have thousands of Geodes that have never been cracked open...such potential there, but it is untapped.
