Improving Global Health: The Goal
Published March 02, 2009 @ 08:34PM PT

Welcome to the Peace Care blog!
Hopefully, we can, together, advance the idea of Peace Care into a functioning project—and beyond. The initiative of Peace Care aims to reduce global disparities in health by utilizing well-established institutions that are well respected worldwide. The daunting task of affecting change in Health Care Systems to improve the lives of individuals worldwide can be more easily addressed through an organized, wide reaching effort that utilizes these existing structures.
Over the next many months and even years, as this project moves forward, becoming a reality and achieving positive change, we can utilize this forum to discuss many topics central to the ideal of an improved global health situation. In particular, we will be focusing our conversation on the structure of this program. This includes conversations concerning Peace Corps, Peace Corps Masters International, and primary care training institutions. We will also be discussing many other global health topics and the ways in which the idea of Peace Care would address these issues. As an example, I will be discussing the way in which primary care is crucial to the advancement of global health. I will also take a look at the situation of the global healthcare workforce and the global disease burden. In addition, I’ll use this forum as a means of advocating for this idea. To this end, I will likely be asking for your support to further the cause of Peace Care.
I greatly appreciate all of the support that this project has received to this point and am very much looking forward to advancing this cause, and more importantly, advancing the cause of improving the health of our world.
