End Homelessness
George W. Bush removed a scientist as the head of the National Institute for Standards and Technologies. He replaced a scientist with a politician. Because of this our government lacks the ability to ethically vet information reliant on science. Instead the government comes to conclusions and NIST supplies data that matches the government's desires. This must change today.

It is a bit worrisome that the NIST has a politically appointed President, and that they hang a big enormous American flag shielding the windows so the government paper-pushers in the NIST building have not much clue what is going on in the world outside, while they produce cyber-science with steel framed buildings falling strait down at free-fall acceleration, supposedly due to office fires.
What will future generations make of this farce? How will we explain this to ten year olds in Physics classes? It is also unacceptable that the NIST did NOT test for explosive residues, even though this is legally required if the owner is to collect insurance on a building that mysteriously disappears 25 minutes after the BBC gives intricate details, trying to explain why the building had totally collapsed, which by-the way, it only does 25 minutes later...
It is also a bit suspicious that the NIST people were helping government researchers test sol-gel-nano-thermite 3 years prior to the pulverization act of the three skyscrapers in New-York that left pools of molten metal behind hot like lava for several months, and the director of NIST maintained before a room full of witnesses that this molten metal was never seen.
Inflicting political control on science is something we might expect of Nicolae Ceaucescu or Joseph Stalin, not on the leader of the United States of America.

I have an engineering and a mathematics degree, and after reading the NIST reports about the WTC collapses (especially WTC7) I can safely say that the lead scientists are frauds. They lack logic and the scientific method in their investigations and conclusions.

I totally agree with this proposition, but let me know : why some persons have their name, and some others only the initials ? I can only have my name, no choice. I just do not understand that.

I think it is foolish to continue to base our foreign policy on an event in which the details have been covered up by the media, the 9/11 commission and the administration.
For the promoters of this site to state that a policy of finding out who were actually behind the attacks that day is "outside of their scope", when there is evidence that the administration may have had foreknowledge and may have even been involved in helping with the attacks is both irresponsible and disgraceful.
If we are going to continue this war on terror, shouldn't we find out who the real terrorists are first? There is so much evidence of our own CIA and clandestine intelligence agencies being involved with Pakistan's ISI, who ordered $100,000 to be wired to Mohammed Atta shortly before the attacks. This was all verified by the FBI and mainstream media. Why would they give him $100,000 if he was planning to kill himself in a suicide mission? That doesn't make any sense. Atta's father claims he spoke with his son the day after 9/11, and after all this we are supposed to believe that Atta died in a fiery inferno on 9/11??
The truth is difficult to find. There are mistakes and roadblocks on both sides of the argument, but I encourage everyone to do their own research. I highly recommend watching presentations by Richard Gage, Michael Ruppert, Loose Change Final Cut and Who Killed John O'Neill? All of these presentations and films are available for free online.

We NEED to find out the truth of what happened on 9/11, not just some story dreamt up by NIST to back the official story. We may well have sent young American men and women to die, based on a lie. Iraq has certainly been a LIE. BushCo said that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. There were no weapons of mass destruction!
Let's get some real scientists working for NIST, people with no agenda except to find out the truth of things.

Asking for a scientist to be put in charge of NIST is a perfectly reasonable suggestion. All of you crazy conspiracy theorists who make this strictly about some sort of 9/11 coverup make the idea lose all credibility.

Truth superceeds politics. There is more than enough evidence against the official 9/11 story that a new investigation -- with REAL scientists -- is alsolutely required.

I favor depoliticization of NIST, and a scientist or engineer should run it. Since it is National Institute of Science and Technology the suggestion that President Obama return a scientist (or engineer) to the helm, is appropriate.

NIST is one of America's most important scientific bodies. To see how it was contorted to affirm the official story of the collapse of WTC7 is laughable. How fast did the ethical standards of the current NIST President crumble? Freefall speed.

WOW! How wonderful to see this idea getting so much traction here--there IS hope. The comments here are so well-said that I can hardly add anything. For me 9/11 Truth is as much about truth as it is about what happened that day. The criminals in power in the Bush Crime Family must all be replaced with regular human beings who value truth and honesty in their everyday affairs. The lies and obvious cover-up about 9/11 is just the tip of an iceberg of lies and cover-up about everything.

With something as important as 9-11 common sense says one or more scientist should go over the findings of NIST.

When I first seen the WTC towers go down I thought it looked fishy and after I have read countless articles and testimonies and the way scholars and engineers have stacked up a mountain of evidence that 9/11 was an iside job it would be the worst miscarriage of justice if we as 'free and open' society don't reopen the investigation into 9/11!

Donna is right. NIST has become a government agency utilized for cover-ups. The real scientists at NIST are suppressed.

I was Director of NIST's predecessor, the National Bureau of Standards (NBS). We (our entire scientific staff) were meticulous in our quest for accuracy and truth in all our work. And I am (or was) a scientist - member of the NAS, president of the American Physical Society etc. I could not agree more that NIST must be headed by a scientist (or a research engineer or mathematician). Indeed when I was appointed (a democrat appointed by Nixon) there had been a tradition that political registration was not taken into account when heads of NBS and NIH were appointed. I have recommended some excellent scientists to Obama and await his choice -- Lew Branscomb
