I am from Saskatchewan ,Canada ,and ,as some of you may know , we are a major source of uranium in the world with many mines in the North of our province. At ths moment in time Bruce Power is trying to sell the idea of a nuclear power plant (or 2 )in Saskatchewan .The key connection between power & weapons production is plutonium ,a by-product of power plant operation ,& the essential ingredient for nuclear weapons. A 1,000 megawatt reactor produces 250 kg. of plutonium each year~enough to make over 20 nuclear weapons. My suggestion is that people inundate the Saskatchewan government with emails asking them to STOP the insanity while we can still say NO. The abolition of nuclear weapons is the major message for the new President. Nothing so completely destroys the human species...and with the proliferation of power and weapons...there is little chance that the limitations of the 20th century have any meaning in the 21st century.

Dismantling of our nuclear weapons is one of the most important steps our country can take. The world sees our hypocisy in demanding that Iran and North Korea give up their nuclear weapons or their drive to attain nuclear weapons when we at least hundreds
of these weapons. If we really want to humane and peaceful world for our children and all generations to come, we have to rid ourselves of nuclear weapons. As some theologians say, until we destroy our nuclear weapons, we have a tremendously serious moral problem in the United States.

The United States is strong enough to unilateraly dismantal it's nuclear weapons. It might be wise to keep ten or so for a possible desperate attempt to nudge a large meteor from its path if it is going to hit the planet, otherwise, dismantle and then help others to see the benefits. Phased reductions sound good but leadership and bold action is what is required to accomplish this important task.
