If you support the DREAM Act, you need to MARCH and RALLY on MAY 1.

Lets all spend the next 10 days pulling out all the stops to make sure that this year's May 1 National Day of Action is big, bold and loud.

We can win the DREAM Act, stop the cutbacks in public education [here in LA we're facing more than 5000 teachers and staff being laid off], put a halt to ICE raids and deportations and demand an end to the second class education provided to black and brown students if we stand up, raise our voices and march on May 1.

Three years ago, millions of us marched in cities across the country to defeat HR4437.  We won.  We have power if we decide to use it.

On May 1, if you're in the LA area, be at City Hall at noon.  If you are in the Oakland/Bay Area, the march starts at 10am - gather at corner of High St. and International Blvd.

Otherwise, find out what plans are going on in your area.  A small, dedicated group of people can do a lot in 10 days to pull together a rally or a march or a speak out for May 1.

    Hi everybody!)
I'm really happy to see that I'm not the only one waiting for this miracle that is "the dream act" to become a reality....
The suggestion that i can apport could be to set the record straight on what really is that we want & need.

Listen one of the reasons why the immigration reform and the dream act did not pass was because we (the undocumented) did not got the chance to explain to the American people what is it that we want in return of our hard labor, good behavior, taxes that we paid, good moral and civic values, good grades, charity and volunteer work that some of us do and contributes and so on....

If we show to the American people that we are not what the media says we are then i think that the Americans will open up their minds and hearts and help us out to achieve and full fill our dreams that eventually we will call "The American Dream" .

Dream Act should not be apart of the comprehensive immigration bill. It should be introduce separately. The Dream Act is an idea that is being market to the public; therefore In the campaign it should show case not only the benefits to the dreamers but also the benefits to the country. Therefore, I think this is the time for all dreamers with talent and degrees to glither. As apart of the campaign I think dreamers that are talented in Art, Music, Film Making, Poem, engineers etc, should complete a piece surrounding the Dream Act theme. Dreamer that are in the health field such as nursing  could write a piece stating how they could contribute to the decline in nurse shortage as our population grew older and sicker. Which would then decrease the overseas the cost for havng to bring foreign nurses here when you could find them here already. I think showing what the dreamers could do for America verses what America could do for the dreamers get some of the opposer to see that they are not just takers. Finally, I think all of this could be combined into a march that ends in a located or start off the march where the public could see all this on screen or on display.

Undocumented immigrants are not the only ones short-changed by America's public school system.  The problem of inadequate education is largely due 1)To local funding dependence and 2) To fuzzy standards for teacher education/qualification.  Federal uniform standards for both per-student funding and teacher qualification as well as teacher education need to be developed and funded.

Prepare some pieces that could be published in the editorial section of local newspapers that addresses the question:
The Dream Act: What it says and Does not say.
Prepare other pieces that show statistics relative to what happens in society when large numbers of young people do not graduate from High School.  Tie this to the Dream Act.  If we pass the Dream Act students who are undocumented know they have a chance at more education; if we fail to pass it, many undocumented - especially from poor families - will say why should I stay in school when I cannot go on to college.  They will choose to drop out so they can get a job and help their struggling parents with household expenses and put some money in their own packet.  In the long run they will contribute much less to our tax base than they would have if they could have gotten an education commensurate with their academic potential.
It reminds me of the stone called a Geode ... it does not look at all attractive on the outside; you have to crack it open to see the gorgeous colors of the crystals within.  Without the Dream Act we will have thousands of Geodes that have never been cracked open...such potential there, but it is untapped.

I am in strong support of higher education for everyone. I am also in favor of securing all of our borders and if that means raising taxes, that means raising taxes. We are a nation of immigrants and we are also a nation of laws and I do not believe in amnesty.

     Pass the Dream ACT!.

My brother and I were brought very young when we came to this country. I was 5 and my brother was 3. Now that we have been living here in the United States for almost 14 years , I am now 18 and my brother 15. I graduated from high school [class of 08] and applied to colleges. I got in with a 3.5 gpa, but eventually could not attend because I cannot afford it, but I do not give up on my dreams, and started going to a community college. It's been hard for me to pay tuition, as many AB540 students might also encountered, and we hope for CHANGE! that we hardworking students, will one day be able to DREAM! freely and accomplish our goals! without any restrictions, so by the time my brother graduates high school, and also many future high school graduates, they will have an opportunity to purse their happiness by getting a college education.

    DREAM ACT 09!

i think it is time to pass the dream act ...I am tired of living in that shadow everyday thinking what i am going to do with my life . As undocumented children in this country we want to go to college ..we are like everyone else , all we need is to be able to attend college and provide in the country ....it is jus a piece of paper that we want ...why do people have to make it so hard....we go to school,we graduate high school , we dont want any trouble all we want is to be able to be treated equally . So please pass the dream act ...

My suggestion would be to work the soonest possible
    on this campaign......

To separate the DREAM ACT from the immigration reform.........

Educate the public about the consequences that the Dream Act
would have if it doesn't pass............

For example, young people would not be care to graduate from
high school and they are not going to be a good asset for this society.......

Its better to give them the opportunity to get educate and
to contribute to this great nation.....
