    I agree with the ideas mentioned in the artice. As a teenager I participated in a program Amigos de las Americas and did vaccinations, taught simple first aid, how to boil water etc. Its the simple things. Maybe we can offer student loan forgiveness to participants in these programs. We need this in the US also. It must be based on each one teach  one so that they can be better equipped to be self sufficient and not based on numerous people constantly coming back to help.
