The Patriot Act, unconstitutional even in it's inception and criminal in it's implementation. Re investigate 9/11 without political interference. Follow it where it leads and prosecute the REAL Terrorists to blame. Return our Constitutional rights of protection from unwarranted surveillance. It's not looking back, it is Justice.

We need to be specific as to some of our civil rights that need rededication. Habeas corpus must be protected and the Military Commissions Act of 2006 repealed along with the bogus PATRIOT Act. Posse comitatus must be enforced to protect us from military police. The military units returning from Iraq that the Bush administration commissioned to be "emergency" police", along with the agreements of the Northern Command must be brought to light and dismantled. ALL methods of interrogation outside of the 16 mentioned in the military manuals and the International Courts must be outlawed. Love,Eliz

I am not afraid of the Patriot Act in place with Democrats in power because they do not believe in strong-arming people, wire-tapping citizens, and ruining people's careers and lives to get a political appointment or secure money for the greed mongers who support their campaigns. However, since we can't have it both ways, I say "Give me liberty or give me death!". Repeal the Patriot Act.

banishing the patriot act which has done nothing to improve this country, only to tear it down by having all citizens treated as terrorists. it puts me in mind of the mccarthy red scare of the 50-60s, people didn't have to turn on each other this time, the government was listening and reading.
if we give up our freedoms one at a time to save the greater good, then we don't deserve our freedoms.
we should undo all that bush put into place to counter-act terrorism in his 8 long years in office

Please ,repeal the so called patriot act.
America urgently needs to return to honoring and abiding by the U.S. Constitution and all International Laws and Treaties including the Geneva Conventions, the U.N. Charter, the U.N. Declaration on Universal Human Rights, the Nuremberg Principles, the Presidential Records Act and the Federal Records Act.
Please, pass the Employee Free Choice Act during the first 100 days in office.
Sincerely,

FISA in its original form should be followed; there is no need to circumvent it, particularly since that court has approved nearly every request placed before it.
The PATRIOT Act should be repealed and our civil liberties restored. What makes this country free for most of us is choice of food, clothing, secure and warm (or cool) housing, choice of mates or partners, choice of friends, choice of religion or of no religion and civil liberties. In none of these do we want to feel restricted. We do not want to feel fear for any of these choices. These freedoms are not just freedoms for the wealthy or the powerful, but for all of us. Freedom is not the right to become wealthy. Freedom is to be determined by law and the courts, not by the Executive Branch. The purpose of the courts is to guarantee civil rights, including the rights of minorities when the majority and/or the elite would restrict the freedom of minorities. That is the purpose of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

If we continue to allow the US government to wiretap and use other tactics such as those spelled out in the Patriot Act all I can say is get ready for a police state because that is the next step. If you want to protect your civil liberties, tell the government you want this law repealed. We cannot live in a climate of fear. We need to return to our basic rights. We are the envy of all the other countries on this planet despite what you hear in the media. We are the beacon of hope in an otherwise dismal world. Stand up for your constitutional rights before it is too late!

I just joined this website and I really like and am inspired by what I read here. Thanks to all responsible for creating it!
It's high time to stop all the fear-mongering tactics of this last administration! No more "Patriot Act" no more wiretapping, no more torture, let's "bring them all home" and concentrate on what's really important-global warming, health care and good education for all, homelessness and our economy. And let's not let "our economy" depend on the exploitation of other nations and their resources, which is really what all these wars have been about anyway. Our imperialistic, oppressive attitide really makes me sick, and it's been directed at indiginous peoples everywhere. Time to stop all of this! YES WE CAN! We must!

These Violations of our Civil Liberties are just part of the Crimes perpetrated by Bush and his administration! What really needs to be done, so that things like this will NEVER be done again, is to prosecute those responsible and prove that NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW! Appoint a Special prosecutor! Let America show the World that we are a nation that abides by the law and that those who break the law will be held responsible, no matter who they are!
