This is really vital to the lives of the developmentally disabled adults in community living. Especially in states like Florida, where additional funding cuts for services is being slashed once again!

See Change.org weekly: the question about the effectiveness of 'charities' is one that waiver advocates must address as well. If services supported by the waiver produce results - people are working, have a dynamic non-paid social network so parents are assured that their children with disabilities are set for life, live in healthy and safe surroundings - they are much more likely to be supported. A preponderance of evidence does not establish this at all. We need to clean our own house and clearly establish it's value before we can sell it successfully to legislators and the public.

I did not get to put an actual vote in, but I would definitely support this. A friend of mine or should I say a very close friend of mine's son has a disability and she is a single parent. When I say single parent I mean literally she does it on her own with NO help what so ever. She works full time plus goes to school full time and still manages to take care of her son with a disability. I give a lot of credit to her and I look up to her for this. What I am trying to actually say is that she needs help. It's not that she doesn't try, it's just hard for her. I really wish there was a miracle to help her. God Bless everyone who put their vote towards this. Not just because of my friend, but for everyone out there with a disability and parents that need help raising their children that have disabilities!!!

The next step involves contacting all these organizations over here on the right of the screen and getting them to work together to move this issue forward. This issue, and other related issues about services for people with disabilities, can be advanced both on a national and state level. Therefore it's a good strategy to have a unified message, but to let each organization advocate on whichever level they feel they would be most effective.

Now that CHANGE.org is finished with vote counting, we can arrange to contact all our state and federal elected officials - particularly those on heaklth and disabilities committees to let them know that not only over 6,000 citizens voted for Fully Funded Medicaid Waivers AND the portability of same but so did almost 60 organisations composed of parents, advocates and individuals with disabilities. All of these masses of peoples are VOTES!!!
