We need to put a lot of pressure on Obama now that he is president to appoint a special prosecutor to try Bush and his administration for war crimes including the 911 incident against Americans.

The Bush signing statements should all be negated as Obama promised.
Our Constitution restored negating the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, and FEMA over reaching powers (back to the governors).
If democracy is not honored by today's new leaders, it says they are part of the problem. The world is waiting to see an example of democracy and freedom from us.

Can it be true that only 9.625 voted to impeach Bush & Co.?
Who is working on changing this into a movement? Is it
Bob Fertik? Can I help? I'm aware of Kucinich and Conyers in
congress and am on their e-mail lists.
We can't restore the country to a nation of laws, show the dead Americans and their families,
show the dead Iraqi victims and their families one iota of sincere
regret for their losses unless we bring the perpetrators of their losses to trial.
Anything less sends the clear message that the USA is prepared to let it happen again under another US Government.

As Mr. Mercer pointed out in his "lighten up and quit hating," I have decided to do just that.
However, I would like to clear up a few items first. You appear to have liberals confused with hippies, and left out the most important part of the triad. Peace, Love and Rock & Roll (I probably have some of my tie-dye shirts and bell-bottom jeans.)
It may surprise you that I don't care what party a candidate affiliates with, I vote for the best candidate.
There is nothing amusing about war crimes; an investigation MUST take place in order to hold to our Countries founding principles. They may very well wind up in The Hague anyway, it would be much better if we took them to task (all of them) prior to such an action.
Bush took us into Iraq under false and illegal pretence, they knew when they went in they would find no WMDs, they also knew Iraq had depleted its uranium enrichment program. There was NO nuclear threat. In so far as your argument that the public will not sustain lengthy trials, I say let’s poll them. There is more than enough reason and evidence, but perhaps you are correct. Put it to the people in the form of a special election.
As far as the loon comment goes, allow me to introduce you to THE LOON: The eerie yodel of the Common Loon is a symbol of the wild North. The territorial call of the male loon can be heard from lakes across Canada to the very northern United States (I am very blessed to live in one of those northern US States.)
Description-Large water bird.
Long pointed bill.
Long body slopes to rear.
Sits low on water.
Size: 66-91 cm (26-36 in)
Wingspan: 104-131 cm (41-52 in)
Weight: 2500-6100 g (88.25-215.33 ounces)
Sound-Call a tremulous wail. If you have ever heard one, you will never forget it. It is one of the most awesome sounds in the world. The Common Loon swims underwater to catch fish, propelling itself with its feet. It swallows most of its prey underwater. The loon has sharp, rearward-pointing projections on the roof of its mouth and tongue that help it keep a firm hold on slippery fish.
As water birds go, the loon is topped only by the Mute Swan in my book. I however, being a bipedal hominid, I bear no resemblance to either. But thanks for the compliment as they are quite lovely.
Liberals want to legislate morality...have you seen the Country lately? I'll give you just one example and let you work out the remainder for yourself...Bushes "Operation Abstinence" being taught in schools in substitution of the former scientific and rational program. If the intent was an unprecedented leap in anal, oral, and other riskier (using no contraception) habits, then it has succeeded. The number of teen pregnancies has risen, as has the number of teens hiding their pregnancies for extended periods of time therefore not getting proper pre-natal care, STDs are at an alarming rate and the average age kids begin to have sex is dropping rapidly.
Okay, tongue out of cheek. How about we all agree to knock of the liberal, conservation, democrat, republican and any other ridiculous dividing qualifier we can use as weapons. Let's try being human beings working towards positive sustainable goals for the good of our community, our nation and our world.
Peace.

Today (Inauguration day) was both an extremely happy and very sad day. Ultimately the most powerful lever & most precious gift The Founders gave us was the power to remove leaders from office. By not excercising that right (especially when their crimes were so obvious, henious and numerous) we have done grave damage to our Constitution and democracy! If these jackals are now allowed to ride off into the sunset with no repercussions for their crime spree ... I fear that America, our ideals, and the beacon of hope it provides those in other nations, will be dead!

I listened to Obama's Inauguration speech (one of the simply great ones) and
was moved to tears...for such courage in the face of monumental tasks ahead,
he is certainly not cowed, but promises to work as America should, with
bipartisanship, for the greatness of America which is not corporate wealth,
but its people.
I am now listening to his speech at the 'gift ceremony' in the White House.
'The depth of the moment belongs to millions of people who have participated
in the very essence---their intensity and engagement--of American society.'
With the attributes of true leadership in mind, I feel that he must address
and correct the legacy the Bush administration left behind: a legacy of
secrecy, deception, corruption, favoritism of the rich, a needless war in
Iraq, and torture!
I believe the first thing on his agenda should be to bring the criminals in
the Bush administration to justice by assigning a special prosecutor to
investigate if Bush did indeed violate the oath of office and create an
administration directed to looking the other way. Like when Cheney's
unchecked prospect for greater personal wealth--unfairly contracting his own
Halliburton and subsidiaries to lucrative Defense contracts--overtook the
war on terror--and the war in terror itself transferred from the Hunt for
Bin Laden to a War on a nation, religion, and people that had nothing to do
with the terrorist attack on 9/11...and the violation of international law
and our own abandonment of the Geneva Conventions of 1954 as the gates of
Guantanamo became the gates of Hell for innocent people, as had the homes of
innocent Iraqis.
Obama gives us hope that we will return to an international diplomacy
emphasizing friendship, peace and good will, understanding and cooperation
first, rather than bombs and death. Hope that our justice system will be
transformed from one that hunts down, prosecutes, and imprisons all
offenders, even at the highest levels, not just marijuana smokers and
hookers. Hope that our government will be transformed to one giving justice
for all, gives genuine freedom and opportunity to law-abiding freedom-loving
Americans of all races, creeds, ages, social status, class, and gender, and
promotes the welfare of the masses rather than the welfare of corporate
entities.
God grant him a charmed life. It's bound to make our own better.

Congratulations President Obama and Vice President Biden and I wish you both all the luck in this world and may you both be successful in turning this country around a set it in the right direction. I pray that your attorney general does the right thing and indicts the worst representation of our country, both Bush & Cheney should be indicted and made accountable for all the laws that they both have broken. The scene would have been nicer this morning if the authorities would have approched those 2 animaLS BUSH & CHENEY as they place handcuffs on both their wrists and they were led away in a paddy wagon to prison! I could hear the enormouse cheers from the millions who were present! God bless you President Obama & VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN and God Bless the United States of AMERICA!
When will we see and hear this attorney general do his duty and arrest these 2 animals?

MSNBC came up with the best suggestion I have heard. At some point the Republicans will again be in control of the presidency. At that time, if these unlawful practices have not been brought to the full brunt of the law, by default, they are ratified. We MUST redress these unlawful practicies advanced by a regime that came frighteningly close to a dictatorship.

An important point: We do not have to reinvent the wheel, take years to look into this matter as there have already been careful investigations and the Bush administration was found guilty on all charges. I was fortunate in having participated in or been aware of numerous fact-finding sessions related to this issue of guilt. Among them:
1. An International Commission of Inquiry on Bush Administration Crimes Against Humanity was held in NYC in October 2005 and January 2006. Indictments included War of agression on Iraq, torture and detention, rendition, murder, destruction of the global environment, attacks on global public health, several charges related to Hurricane Katrina. The investigation was thorough, there were expert witnesses, the results are available on DVD.
See http://bushcommission.org
2. Prior to this commission of inquiry, a World Tribunal on Iraq was held in 15 cities around the world. It included numerous charges, a jury of conscience and testimonies from expert witnesses, visual documentation, oral presentations. I was fortunate to attend 1 May 2003 session in NYC at Cooper Union. At the present time, the website, worldtribunal.org seems to no longer be in existence--however there is a book, sold at Amazon.com and a set of 4 DVDs.
3. Congressman Dennis Kucinich twice introduced articles of impeachment in Congress. While impeachment no longer makes sense, Kucinich surely has excellent documentation which is of use here.
Though I do see the value in putting our energy into going forward, rather than looking back, this is not enough: I strongly urge President Obama to make sure that his predecessors are held accountable. Keith Oberman tonite on MSNBC (Jan. 19, 2009) spoke eloquently and intelligently on just WHY this must be done.
