Ten Things You Can Do for the DREAM Act!

1. CALL Pick up the phone and call your Senator or Representative today. Dial 202-224-3121 or use the NCLR guide to be connected to your member of Congress and speak out in favor of the DREAM Act.

Sample message - "Hi, I am calling in support of the DREAM Act (S.729 / H.R. 1751). The DREAM Act lays the groundwork for immigration reform and allows immigrant youth of good moral character to make crucial economic contributions to the United States. To not pass the act at a time when this country needs an economic stimulus and a more educated workforce would be great folly. I urge _________ to become a cosponsor of the DREAM Act."

Please report back on how your call went.

I see a lot of brilliant students... stars waiting to shine... that cannot continue studying because of their fear of not having a legal status in this country.  we can make a difference by helping those students to become the person they want to become... most of them came here because their parent brough them here... they did not know what was going on! Let them progress!!!

I fell that this dream act should pass, because it would help thousands of undocumented students to accomplish their education dreams. As a undocumented students, I don't see my self as a burden to the U.S., instead we give back to the community. We are the future of america.

As a recruiter for a New York State University I believe that the Dream Act would enable America as a whole to move foward in the area of immigration.  Undocumented high school graduates would be able to become productive, tax paying, law abiding citizens.  The current rules regarding higher education for undocumented high school graduates can be likened to "selling them the Brooklyn Bridge."  Why allow them to go to high school in the first place if they can't pursue their hopes and dreams.

Dream act will create a pathway to citizenship for many of students who came to the United States as children. If Congress fails to pass the dream act, another entire class of outstanding, law-abiding students will graduate without being able to attend college and further their education, and some will be removed from United States, and sent back to the countries they hardly know. By providing education to these people, our economy will grow.

Some of my best friends are "illegal immigrants" however it was never their choice to be here. They were brought by their parents when they were young and went through the school system just like me. They work hard and do their best in whatever they try. I cannot understand why it would be okay to send them, or others with similar stories "back" to a country they do not know. It is not right to punish them for something they had no control of.

We are all americans, no matter if we origanally came from the south or north. And if we want a chance to make a different for a better America than this is a great step.
