Televise the Supreme Court of the United States
The Supreme Court today remains the last institution of government whose doors are closed to the vast majority of the American public. Every policy issue of consequence makes its way to the Supreme Court, and each decision affects the lives of Americans in ways that are lasting and profound.
A basic right of our democracy is that government institutions should be subject to the scrutiny of citizens. Yet, when it comes to the Supreme Court itself, the average American generally can't use that right.

End Policy of Not Sending Condolence Letters to Families of Soldiers Who Commit Suicide
In 2009, more military service members committed suicide than were killed by enemy fire in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
But while the Department of Defense provides service members who commit suicide a full military burial, there is a long-standing, unwritten policy of not sending Presidential letters of condolence to the families of service members who have completed suicide. This unequal treatment of veterans who commit suicide needs to end.

Removing Roadblocks to Voter Registration
The US is one of the few major democracies that puts the onus of voter registration on the people who wish to exercise their right. Our antiquated, expensive and unnecessarily complex voter registration system has been called "the single greatest cause of voting problems in the United States." There is a better way: universal voter registration that is automatic and permanent.
We can have a modern, accurate, reliable voter registration system that saves taxpayers millions of dollars each year and guarantees that everyone who is eligible to vote is registered.

Don’t Sell Elections to the Highest Bidder
Millions of Americans expected 2009 to be a year of change. But in so many ways, we've learned how difficult true political change is to achieve. From the financial crisis to healthcare reform to climate change, we saw that some of the world's largest and most powerful corporations are willing to thwart progress if it means maximizing profits.
Too many opportunities for essential reforms have been jeopardized by the stranglehold of special interests on our government. It's time to stem the tide of corporate influence and put the humanity of the many before the profit interests of the few.

Solar Panels & Wind Turbines on EVERY federal building
We can make a huge difference by eliminating the use of fossil fuels to heat buildings and power its electrical needs by equipping buildings with solar panels and small wind turbines.
By mandating that all federal buildings use these technologies we will significantly reduce the use of fossil fuels by the federal government, set a great example for others, promote the green economy by federally purchasing these products for the buildings, and reducing carbon emissions.
