Ask Petland to stop selling puppies!

America's largest chain of puppy-selling pet stores, Petland Inc., is also the nation's largest retail supporter of puppy mills. An eight-month investigation by The HSUS reveals that many Petland stores across the country are marketing puppy mill puppies to unsuspecting consumers. Watch our video; then tell Petland to get out of the puppy-selling business.

You have already participated in this advocacy campaign.

Puppy mills are the concentration camps for animals. There is NO room for respect, compassion and dignity.
In puppy mills there is only room for greed, willfully ignorance and selfisness.
All puppy mills should be closed down for ever and all the petshops should work together with the local shelters to rehome abandoned and abused animals. Even petshops should stop selling pets, only petfood! All the people who want a pet, should be certificated, before they can get a pet. More education on schools, television programs for children and adults. When you want to drive a car: you need a driver license, When you want to drive a motor bike: you need a driver lisence. But every sociopath and scum can get a animal or a child...

    Pledge fulfilled Dec 17, 2008!

there's simply no need for puppies to be bred for stores just so picky people can have a certain type of dog, when there's thousands of beautiful homeless dogs across the country.
who cares if they're not a certain breed?
people don't want others to be racist, isn't that what you're doing by only selling purebreds?

It is frustrating and sad to see puppies locked in cages.  Of the Petlands I have visited, the puppies aren't really even puppies anymore, they look sad and listless and they are outrageously overpriced.  In Hawaii, often puppies, usually not even purebred or registered with the American or Australian Kennel Club can have a selling price of $1500 or more, rarely less than $900...for a mix breed animal without first shots or vet checkups.  Something has to be done to put an end to this.  Please help to support this cause!
