Change.org is now accepting applications for up to six interns to work from our Melbourne office, to support the discovery and execution of high impact campaigns, on the worlds’ fastest growing platform for social change.
Change.org offers the world’s most powerful campaigning tools to every potential citizen-activist and NGO. Change.org currently empowers millions of people around the world start, join and win campaigns for social change on the issues they care about in their community, city, or country. We are growing by over 400,000 new members a month and are building a core team to launch in Australia.
Each Intern will be assigned one or more cause areas on which they will focus the vast majority of their time and energy. Interns will research opportunities for compelling social change campaigns, write briefs on ideas for action, as well as reach out to potential NGO or activist partners.
We are specifically looking for interns passionate about focusing on one or more of the following issue areas (please nominate where you would like to focus in your application):
- LGBT Rights
- Environment and Sustainability
- Climate Change
- Animal Rights & Welfare
- Refugees & Asylum Seekers
- Human Rights
- Indigenous Affairs
- Trafficking & Fairtrade
- Womens’ Rights
Successful Candidates will be able to show:
- A strong and incisive understanding of key issues associated with your chosen issue area.
- A passionate dedication to your chosen issue area, with a history of engaging with organisations, publications or activities surrounding it.
- Extremely strong research, written and oral communication skills.
- An uncommon attention to detail.
- A proactive and dedicated attitude coupled with a thirst to learn new skills.
Interns will be responsible for, among other things:
- Monitoring key issues, commentary and opinion surrounding your issue area.
- Preparing briefs around key issues.
- Reaching out to and connecting with communities of passionate people surrounding your issue area - including NGOs, activists, bloggers and similar.
- Researching, developing and proposing campaigns in your issue area, with the potential for explosive growth and swift victory.
- Tracking media stories and campaigns.

Applications for our first intern intake are now being accepted. You need to be available to spend at least two days (ideally three) per week in our Melbourne office (centrally located) for a minimum of 3 months.
