  8. Update from our partner in Nairobi and Elementita, Kenya

    Published January 28, 2008 @ 07:13PM PT

The violence, which initially settled down, has now flared up again. Before, it was St. Mary’s Nairobi that was surrounded by violence, killings, shootings, rapes, burning & lootings. This time, it is us here at Elementita. As I write this, the violence is all around us, and we are bound here in the compound. Terrible killings & burnings flared up yesterday in Nakuru (20 miles to the west of us). Today, Nakuru is still bad, but Naivasha (15 miles to the east) has flared up with sickening killings, etc. As I write this, the violence is now spread to Gilgil (5 miles from us), and moving this way. I think we will be spared, but it’s going to be a long night of vigil. One just doesn’t know what the crazed 15-20 year old “mobs for hire” will do next.&n... Read More

  10. Over $2.6M of Life-Saving Medications Help Children With AIDS in Africa

    Published November 01, 2007 @ 01:49PM PT

Autumn's here again.  This year is passing by quickly, but a lot's been done thus far!  The American Foundation for Children with AIDS has sent over $2.6 million worth of live-saving medicines to our East Africa children, including hygiene kids for HIV+ children and their familes, plus reinforced cereal so the kids can eat before taking their medications. All of this was done only because of the generosity of our donors, including individual donors, grant makers, churches, civic groups and companies.  Without each of these donors, big and small, none of this would be possible.  We're thrilled with all we've been able to do so far, but there's still a lot more we want to do for these kids. To learn how you can help save the life of a child with AIDS or HIV in Afri... Read More
