WHOLE KIDS ADVENTURE

WHOLE KIDS ADVENTURE, an Austin based non-profit corporation, was organized to provide a unique child development model that focuses on establishing healthy eating habits and increasing physical activity levels in preschool age children and their families.

WKA is actively working to grow and strengthen our unique model that will address the obesity epidemic in children through a community based model, combining not only full time high-quality child care for working parents, but with the vision of becoming a community hub of community and school gardens; culinary department; educational programs for other family members and the general public; by developing partnerships with other like-minded organizations. WKA is also seeking corporate partners to invest in nutritional education for their customers and champion honest food labeling.

Our Goals:

WKA is set to start a grassroots movement that seeks to change the current child development models/minimum standards as currently established, and will change the culture of junk food by educating children prior to the age of three, when children have developed their eating habits for life.

Our programs are formed to create a movement that will inspire families to change the way that they eat. The movement will do this by establishing a child development center and community kitchens; teach children practical food and cooking skills in an entertaining way and provide basic training for parents, professionals and the general public; and bring people together through an online community to drive the fight against early childhood obesity.

Currently, no prevention programs exist that target preschool age children and furthermore, no prevention programs exist that include low-income families, single- and teenage parents, or minority ethnic groups, who struggle most with child care, and rising cost of foods.
