Suited for Change

Of families living in poverty in the nation''s capital, 3/4 are headed by women. Many women lack the skills necessary to obtain jobs and earn wages sufficient to meet the needs of their families. Suited for Change provides professional clothing and ongoing career education to low-income women to increase their employment and job retention potential and to contribute to their economic independence.

Our services are available at no charge and by referral only to low-income women who have completed a job readiness program at any of the 150 job training and social service agencies with which we partner and are seeking employment.

Suited for Change serves about 110 women each month. Our clients come from DC (75%), MD (18%) and Northern VA (7%).

Since our founding in 1992, Suited for Change has helped more than 15,000 women in the transition from welfare to work.
