Rare's mission is to protect wildlands of globally significant biological diversity by enabling local people to benefit from their preservation. Working with local organizations around the world, our projects seek to: build grass-roots support for conservation; promote family planning and conservation through locally produced media; train rural people to be skilled, English-speaking nature tour guides; and develop income-producing nature trails and ecotourism initiatives that benefit local economies and the environment.
