The National Space Society (NSS) is an independent international, educational, grassroots nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the creation of a space faring civilization. The NSS has more than 20,000 members, and 80 chapters in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The NSS, founded in 1974 by Wernher von Braun, envisions a day when people will live and work in thriving communities beyond the Earth.
