KaBOOM! creates playspaces through the participation and leadership of communities. We inspire mass action in support of the belief that play has purpose. We activate communities in order to increase the quality, quantity and access to play for local children. The KaBOOM! community-build model enables diverse groups of volunteers to collaborate towards a collective cause - the well-being of children - by completing a discrete product - a playspace - in a discrete time period - one day - making an immediate and visible difference in their community. Over its fourteen year history KaBOOM! has directly helped communities to build over 1,600 playspaces and has inspired thousands more with toolkits, trainings, challenge grants, and networking and advocacy opportunities. It''s an old fashioned barn-raising with an urban twist. Very simple. Very amazing.
