Harlem Children's Zone

Founded in 1970, the Harlem Children''s Zone is a pioneering, community-based organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the healthy development of children in Central Harlem. We have developed a network of neighborhood-based best practice programs in education, health and social services that address the critical needs of children and their families in Harlem.  The HCZ network of services begins when a child is born and continues through graduation from college.  Our mission is to create a community in Harlem that provides all of its children with the supports and services that are available to children in more affluent communities and produces outcomes that meet or exceed state and city averages.
