HANA MISSION

Here at Hana Mission we provide services such as free food, a place to sleep, and child care to those in need.

We are a non-for profit Christian community outreach organization with the vision to instill hope into the hearts and souls of children, adults, and families in our community. We endeavor to work hard to lift the spirits of the people of our area by opening our hearts and doors by providing free services along the joy that comes with helping our deserving community through Jesus Christ.

Specifically, we reach out to the children in the community by offering four programs that stretch throughout the year. The goal of our programs is to provide a safe and positive environment for healthy intellectual, emotion and spiritual development. Every day we reach our goal by providing a combination of learning and fun with genuine care from our Christian staff and volunteers. Our role models help our children with homework and character development and give them the hope of a brighter tomorrow.   

We serve the community of Paterson, the third largest city in New Jersey and the sixth most densely populated city in the United States.  It is one of the state's leading cities in crime, violence, and poverty.  A fourth of the city's population is under the national poverty line, the city's median household income is half of that of the state, and the city's murder and robbery crime rate are nearly double that of the nation's average per capita.

 Founded and directed by Reverend Hank Kim, Hana Mission has been in service since 1998. To this day, Rev. Kim and Hana Mission are periodically featured in newspapers and hold public events and fundraisers to increase community awareness yearly.  We also have a wide connection to the churches in New Jersey and New York, and a sizable number of dedicated volunteers that make our programs possible.

At Hana Mission we show the light that is love and kindness that we all have within us. We do our part to help those who sometimes cannot help themselves. When I first stepped into the doors of Hana Mission I could feel the hope in the air, and judging by the smiles on the faces of the children could see that change was happening right here in our town. YOU ARE THE CHANGE THAT AMERICA NEEDS.
