Founded in 2001, the mission of the Global AIDS Alliance is to halt global HIV/AIDS and address its impacts on poor countries hardest hit by the epidemic. Strategically focused on analyzing the issues, informing the media and policymakers, mobilizing grassroots activists, and catalyzing diverse coalitions and partnerships, GAA has emerged as a leader in the global AIDS advocacy community and earned a well-deserved reputation for shaping the AIDS policy debate and holding decision-makers accountable.
We have established strong relationships with major stakeholders, including the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Education for All−Fast Track Initiative, UNAIDS, UNICEF, and World Health Organization, as well as with key decision-makers in the U.S. Congress, United Nations, and other G8 governments. GAA has also forged strong partnerships with diverse civil-society organizations and networks, including U.S. and global AIDS advocates and service providers, humanitarian and relief agencies, and faith-based organizations. In particular, GAA is one of the few AIDS advocacy organizations with close ties to organizations working on children’s issues, as well as the women’s and reproductive health communities.
