CANTER of Ohio (The Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses of Ohio)was founded in 2001. CANTER is dedicated to finding new careers for Ohio's retiring thoroughbred racehorses by listing horses for sale on its internet site, and by distributing horses wanted listings at the racetrack. In addition, CANTER of Ohio also purchases horses at risk of going to auction, and accepts tax deductible donations of retiring thoroughbred racehorses. CANTER of Ohio is entirely comprised of volunteers, and no member of the organization receives a salary or commission. All donated funds are dedicated to the welfare of CANTER-owned horses, and these horses also receive veterinary care through the generosity of Michigan State University's School of Veterinary Medicine. CANTER of Ohio's goal is to find new careers for thoroughbred racehorses so none end up at risk of going to an auction, where their fate is uncertain.
Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses of Ohio (CANTER of Ohio) has not yet started any petitions.
