Nonviolent Communication (NVC)is a powerful process for inspiring compassionate connection and action. Also known as Compassionate Communication and Giraffe Language, NVC can prevent and resolve conflicts and facilitate communication that helps everyone gets their needs met. The mission of CNVC is to contribute, by living and teaching this process, to a world where everyone's needs are met peacefully. The NVC model was developed and refined over a period of 35 years by Marshall B. Rosenberg, Ph.D. who first used it in federally funded projects to provide mediation and communication skills training to communities working peacefully to integrate schools and other public institutions during the 1960s. NVC training is now offered in more than 30 countries on five continents by a team of over 100 CNVC Certified Trainers and is supported by hundreds of committed volunteers who help organize workshops, participate in practice sessions, and coordinate team building.
