Bikes for the World

The mission of Bikes for the World is to:

1. Provide affordable reconditioned bicycles for personal transport to education, employment, health services and other essential activities.

2. Foster local capacity to repair, maintain, and market bicycles, employing local people.

This mission will be carried out in ways which:

1. Provide community service opportunities for Americans.

2. Promote U.S. public awareness to recycle rather than waste large numbers of discarded or no longer needed bicycles.

3. Complement the work of other American and world-wide organizations sharing a common concern for environmentally sustainable community development.
