Hi Friends,

Greenpeace has a new Executive Director! Our Grassroots Director Phil Radford just took the helm and is proud to stand up for environmental issues and lead the Greenpeace USA community to becoming a force politicians and corporations just can't ignore. He asserts that, with help from people like you and me, we can "be respected and listened to by corporations and politicians because, with YOU behind us, we can stand up to anyone."

No stranger to Greenpeace, Phil has worked for Greenpeace for six years and his  vision and leadership has already built a massive network of people around the country who are interested in a greener, cleaner, safer Earth. He has helped create our cutting edge online to on-the-ground organizing, as well as a robust student organizing and training program and the national street and door-to-door canvass program. "Greenpeace is so much stronger because of you and the people like you who take action for the planet; who talk about us and the issues we're fighting for; who donate monthly on the street or online, and who take chances for us and with us. Together, it's something truly special - unlike any other environmental group out there," says Phil.

For the future, Phil sees Greenpeace and its supports passing legislation on Global Warming, ending deforestation in the Amazon and the Congo, preserving the oceans, as well as making our home, Earth, a greener and more peaceful place to live for future generations and ourselves. In his  blog, Phil warns us about how urgent the Global Warming crisis is:

"America the Beautiful may not be so beautiful if we don't stop global warming. The problem is that we have a few dinosaurs in office who are aligned with the companies that burn fossil fuels (coal, oil) who, together, stand in the way of global warming solutions.  The true test will be if we, together, can stand up to the dinosaurs in this new era of hope and hold President Obama and our elected officials to the highest moral standard."

Also check out Phil's first video where he calls on you to help tackle the issue of Global Warming!

I really believe that this organization is unique. We'll either dance with or dance on corporations-but we always name the tune.

For the Planet,

Prerana
