Can You Imagine A Clean Energy Future?
Published April 22, 2009 @ 01:39PM PT
Hi Friends!
For all of us here at Greenpeace, every day is Earth Day. And I'd guess that's true for you, too. But, for a lot of folks, this is the one day each year that they really think about the serious environmental challenges facing our planet. So we thought we'd take the opportunity to send a message.
Imagine Wind Power!
Today, our activists took to the streets of Chicago and transformed a Michigan Avenue bridge into a bold statement about the future. The message was pretty simple: Imagine clean energy now. It made for a compelling image -- one that won't soon be forgotten by the people who saw it. It was so good in fact, that we thought it would make the perfect e-card for you to send to your friends and family this Earth Day.
TAKE ACTION:
Sign our petition and send the e-card to the people you care about this Earth Day! Ask them if they can imagine a clean energy future!
The truth is that Chicago has a pretty amazing story to tell when it comes to clean energy. The city has been one of the leaders in implementing a progressive energy policy. In fact, officials there are hoping that within five years the city will be getting at least 20% of its electricity from renewable sources like wind and solar.
But even a city as big as Chicago can't do it alone. If we're going to solve global warming and switch to a clean energy economy, then it's going to take all of us working together -- especially all of those people who might only be thinking about protecting the environment one day a year.
Sign the petition and send this Earth Day e-card far and wide and ask your friends if they can imagine a clean energy future! We can't stop until Earth Day is every day for everyone.
Happy Earth Day,
Ben Kroetz
