Make a Commitment to Host or Take Part in a Fair Trade Break

May 10, 2008 is World Fair Trade Day, an international celebration of Fair
Trade. World Fair Trade Day this year is accompanied by the theme, "For
the Planet. For the People", which explores Fair Trade as an option that
not only offers consumers the means by which to value the people who make
our products, but also the opportunity to reduce our environmental
footprint.

There are a number of exciting ways people can get involved. FTRN and Fair
Trade Towns are encouraging people across the US to take part in or host a
Fair Trade Break. In short, a Fair Trade Break is an opportunity for a
community, a workplace, a class, or a group of friends to take time out to
consume, showcase, and discuss the benefits of Fair Trade. Fair Trade
Breaks can take many forms; they can include sharing home-baked goodies
like Fair Trade chocolate brownies with Fair Trade coffee in your office
(aka A Fair Trade Coffee Break), simply brewing a pot of Fair Trade tea to
sip with your friends (aka A Fair Trade Tea Break) or showcasing Handmade
Artisan products at a House Party (aka A Fair Trade Artisan Break).

Make a commitment to get involved this World Fair Trade Day by hosting or
taking part in a Fair Trade Break. It's a simple, effective and fun way to
spread the message of Fair Trade to communities across the US.
