Mission
Friends of Sabeel--North America (Inc. as Friends of Peace and Justice in the Holy Land) is a U.S. peace movement cooperating with Palestinian Christian in the Holy Land through The Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem. Sabeel promotes a non-violent vision for addressing the conflict between Palestinians and the state of Israel, a vision based on principles for a just peace with a theological, moral, and legal foundation. Friends of Sabeel works to engage western Christians in issue of justice and peace with a focus on the Holy Land.
Programs
Operating programs include (1)Sabeel-led pilgrimage and solidarity visits which include sites in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Galilee, Gaza; (2) Regional and international educational conferences; (3) Speaking tours by Palestinian and Israeli religious leaders, educators, writers and activists; (4) Interfaith cooperation and coalition building on ending illegal occupation; (5) publication of the Cornerstone theological journal; (6)Theological education and the Institute for the Study of Christian Zionism; (7) International partnerships and civil society activism through the United Nations.
