Tell the Washington Times: No Such Thing as an "Illegal Haitian"
The Issue
What's an "illegal Haitian"? How about an "illegal American"?
The fact is, "illegal American" doesn't mean anything. Neither does "illegal Haitian." So when the Washington Times headlines "Illegal Haitians get short-term legal status," it represents fundamentally bad, lazy journalism. Even a conservative paper like the Washington Times ought to at least attempt basic accuracy over making up senseless terms.
The term "illegal immigrant" is bad enough. But "illegal Haitian" just takes it to a whole new level of absurdity.
Tell the Washington Times to shape up, correct it's terms, and issue an apology. There is simply no such thing as an illegal Haitian, no matter how short and catchy you think it makes the headline.
