Tell the Senate: Fund the National Housing Trust Fund

Tell the Senate: Fund the National Housing Trust Fund
The Issue
The Senate is currently deliberating on the passage of various job creation legislation, some of it including important housing creation measures.
The American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010, already passed by the House, would provide $1.65 billion in badly-needed funding for the National Housing Trust Fund. Originally enacted in 2008 to provide communities with resources for the construction, rehabilitation and preservation of affordable housing, the Fund is still awaiting funding. It was supposed to be funded by since-sunk mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Whoops.
Over the next 10 years, NHTF grants could create 10,000 rental homes and close to 20,000 new jobs in construction and operations.
Beneficiaries of the National Housing Trust Fund would be the people who are rarely beneficiaries of anything, namely "extremely low and very low income households, including homeless households."
We all deserve adequate shelter at a price we can afford. Tell your Senators to fully fund the National Housing Trust Fund today.
