Endangered Species Coalition

Endangered Organizer Fund

At the Endangered Species Coalition, we have an exclusive offer to adopt an endangered organizer.  By donating to our Endangered Organizer Fund, you can support the work of Derek Goldman, our Northern Rockies Representative, to protect wolves, grizzly bears, and other wildlife in the Rockies.

Please adopt Derek Goldman today!

Derek can not continue his incredible work to protect wildlife and wild places without support from you. Your donation will go directly to support Derek's work to protect wildlife and wild places in the Western U.S.

Derek Goldman, Endangered Species Coalition Northern Rockies Representative

Derek works to engage people throughout the West in efforts to protect wildlife and wild places. He has been successful in protecting many endangered species and their habitat, including:

* Worked to ensure wolves remain an Endangered Species Act success story and will have a place in the N. Rockies.

* Organized in support of strengthening protected habitat for the threatened Lynx and Bull trout.

* Organized in support of granting endangered species protections for the last population of fluvial Arctic grayling in Montana and the U.S.

* Educated the public and policymakers about the threat global warming poses to the last remaining wolverines in U.S.

Derek engages hundreds of people to speak for strong endangered species protections, including scientists, hunters, fishermen, ranchers, farmers, business owners, religious leaders, and a former U.S. Senator. His grassroots organizing efforts include:

* Generated hundreds of comments to decision makers in support of maintaining a strong Endangered Species Act.

* Gathered over 700 signatures from citizens across Montana on the ESA Legacy Pledge.

* Helped organize and coordinate 14 events in celebration of Endangered Species Day 2006-2009.

* Secured passage of local Endangered Species Day mayoral proclamations in Billings, Missoula, and Bozeman.

Testimonials from Conservation Community

Derek's organizing expertise is highly valued by his colleagues in the conservation community. Here is a little bit about what people are saying about him:

"Losing Derek and his excellent advocacy efforts would be a serious blow to conservation efforts in Montana and the Northern Rockies. I have had the pleasure to work with Derek and the Endangered Species Coalition on many campaigns over the past few years and find him to be a true professional, an excellent team partner, and an outstanding spokesperson and advocate for imperiled wildlife species. In addition to the outstanding work Derek has accomplished organizing Endangered Species Day, he has been instrumental in battling against Rep. Richard Pombo's ESA attacks, beating back the Bush Administration's rollbacks, and issues related to arctic grayling, lynx, wolves, grizzlies, and bull trout. I have witnessed the public visibility that he has brought to these important issues and the action delivered in support of species conservation." Bob Clark, Associate Regional Representative, Sierra Club.

"Derek Goldman has been a valuable ally in the Rockies. He is politically savvy yet unafraid to advocate strongly for the most imperiled critters.  Center for Native Ecosystems has gained a lot from working alongside Derek on some of the most urgent and fierce fights to save endangered species and the legacy environmental law that protects them, the Endangered Species Act.  The entire endangered species and biodiversity movement has gained from employing Derek's expertise and ability to rally public support." Josh Pollock, Conservation Director, Center for Native Ecosystems.

"I have worked with Derek on lynx and wolf campaigns here in Montana. Derek is not like any other organizer/advocate I know in the region. I always turn to Derek as a hub of information as well as people, and any conservationist in this area knows that Derek will be at every important meeting, hearing, organizing event. His experience makes him strategic, knowledgeable, well-connected.  As a sportsman, he provides a key connection to that community as well. We absolutely cannot lose Derek as an advocate for endangered species here." Lisa Upson,Natural Resources Defense Council.

"I've had the privilege of working with Derek Goldman on a number of issues in the last few years, ranging from overall species policy to thorny issues involving species like wolves. Derek brings passion, a keen insight and a thoughtful approach. But most importantly, he brings a perspective that bridges the on the ground understanding from local and regional groups to the efforts and ideas of national organizations. Losing those unique skills and that approach would set back our efforts to ensure that the ESA remains a vibrant and workable tool to protect iconic species like bears and wolves for generations to come." Craig Kenworthy,Conservation Director,Greater Yellowstone Coalition.
