I greatly appreciate the work and personal sacrifices that ALL of our service men and women do for our nation.  That being said, I am terribly concerned about the mission of the USO.  The USO has not helped gay and lesbian service men and women.  Unlike the special services which the USO provides to heterosexual service men and women, the USO does not help gay and lesbian service men and women connect with their same-gender domestic partners.  Instead, the USO has chosen over the years  to ignore these brave men and women who have served our nation in complete silence and fear of being dishonorably discharged simply for being who and what they are.  

The time has come for the USO to formally and permanently revise their mission statement promising to provide and support all American service men and women regardless of their sexual orientation.

Additionally, regarding the campaign drives and appeals to make financial contributions  to the USO, American citizens need to know for certain that gay and lesbian service men and women will also benefit from these financial contributions.  If no provisions are made to support openly gay and lesbian service men and women, then all Americans should refrain from making any financial donation to the USO, for doing so would only support discrimination and marginalization of non-heterosexual service men and women of the United States of America.
