Human rights of thousands are being violated so long as Congress avoids tackling immigration reform. American citizens as well as many undocumented immigrants languish in jails, and whole families suffer along with individuals. Many U.S. farms and factories are being deprived of workers.  Immigration reform must be based on several principles, including insuring a supply of workers, reviewing cases and the work histories of undocumented immigrants, and humane settlement of cases in question; as well as amnesty.  Washington must give high priority to real immigration reform by 2010.
