Call and Email the WHITEHOUSE on TUESDAY, May 12 in support of Lt.Choi and all the 12,500 others.

The Issue

For those not up to date on the issue of DADT. Nothing has been changed under the Obama Administration... our gay soldiers, who are willing to die for us, are telling the truth and being discharged into an America without equal rights for them. These are trained soldiers we need supporting us, we must support all of them.
Some feel Obama can change that via simply delaying implementation of DADT until the legislation is re-evaluated and changed, with a stroked of the pen. He has chosen not to do so.

The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), which works to overturn "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and represents many of the men and women kicked out of the military, had some punchy as harsh words for Obama over the weekend:

"Gay and lesbian soldiers continue to get fired on this President's watch, most recently Arabic linguist Army Lt. Dan Choi and 2nd Army Second Lt. Sandy Tsao. At the end of the day, this is what the debate is about-them and their families....
SLDN had hoped this president would offer leadership, not give in to some throw away study or commission. The right approach would be a presidential working group that focuses solely on implementation and reports back to the president with recommendations within 90 days.

Another group KNIGHTS OUT, of which Lt. Choi is a member, is asking supporters to call the Whitehouse TOMORROW.

With the issue in the news, it is important to speak out NOW – not later – to make this happen.

On Tuesday, May 12, call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111.
(Update 5/12...there is a wait! Good sign!but you will speak to a very nice person!)

Sample Script: ...   I’m calling to ask the president not to fire Lieutenant Dan Choi ...to STOP implementation of DADT.– and to keep his promise to eventually repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
TELL THEM: I am a  ...  [something about you: Iraq vet, gay/straight West Point/Annapolis/AFA grad, concerned citizen,  brother/sister/father/mother/son/daughter/friend of a soldier/sailor/airman/marine…etc.]

Call  TODAY  Tuesday.  ...AND we have support for this Action.
Last night on the Rachel Maddow show. Clifford Alexander former Sec. of Army and 15 year friend of Obama, who has always been against DADT. Says "it is okay to call, because pressure works."
He wants Obama to do this for history, to do the right thing!... But the President needs support from all of us!

With your help, we can get this law changed.  We can make this happen!

Apparently, the switchboard is swamped. They recommend you email too and leave your own full message.

www.whitehouse.gov    ..   ...   Go to Contact Us on right side. This is a POLICY question, as President Obama can put a Hold on Implementation of DADT, with the stroke of a pen.

....then latest: We can also contact Congress to get DADT repealed!

You can call: the House Armed Services Committee Majority Staff to urge them to get a hearing to pass:

The Military Readiness Enhancement Act

(which would repeal DADT) and let them know about the case of Lt. Dan Choi.
Their number is 202-225-4151.
