We urge you NOT to cut Council Worker's pay or slash their conditions.

We urge you NOT to cut Council Worker's pay or slash their conditions.

The Issue

––since 2009 council pay has fallen by 16% after inflation
––those on the lowest pay get little more than the national minimum wage
––over two thirds of LG staff fall below the government’s low pay threshold of £21,000
––local government pay is by far the lowest in the public sector
––more than 75% of the workforce are women so pay inequality is rising
––many council workers are in debt and struggling to pay their bills

The Council Leader and other Councillors want to cut pay, freeze increments and slash conditions. This is the thanks council workers get for keeping local services going and covering the jobs that have already been cut.
