The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) is a broad-based, multi-ethnic umbrella organization composed of over one hundred voluntary, nonprofit, legal, religious, immigrant, community, government, labor, academic, and business sectors concerned with ensuring the fair and humane treatment of immigrants and refugees. Since its inception in 1986, CHIRLA has been the leading advocacy group on immigration-related issues affecting the greater Los Angeles area. As a multi-ethnic coalition of community organizations and individuals, CHIRLA aims to foster greater understanding of issues that effect immigrant communities, provide a neutral forum for discussion, and unite immigrant groups to more effectively advocate for positive change.
