Eat meatless meals for at least three days per week!
Eating meatless meals will help improve your health and benefit the environment! It is a well known scientific fact that most chronic diseases are rooted in poor nutritional habits. Eating more plant-based foods is an important practice in disease prevention. Additionally, eating plant-based foods will improve the environment. According to information on the goveg.com website (see http://www.goveg.com/environment.asp), "If every American skipped one meal of chicken per week and substituted vegetarian foods instead, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than a half-million cars off U.S. roads."
This is an ongoing pledge that should be fulfilled as often as possible.

I am currently vegan, but the change does take time. Trying to eat less meat a few days a week is a great start to ending animal suffering, human health problems such as high cholesterol (no cholesterol in plant-based foods,) and global warming. It's a win all around!

I have been a Pesce-Vegetarian for a little over 1 month. It was actualy very easy to do, and I feel much healthier! Eventually I will give up fish as well. I am happy to sign this pledge!

Being a vegetarian I am of course happy to make the pledge - but most importantly the reason I have done so is to now share it with others who I know still indulge in the flesh of animals

For some reason that site does not work when you click on the link unless one does a google for it. Here is another site that has info. I hope this one works!

I have been a vegetarian for 25 + years. I would have stopped as a child if I understood what I do now. I eat nothing with eyes. I woke up one day when I was preparing a Turkey for Thanksgiving and when I took the gizzards and neck out to cook for the stuffing, I realized how obscene it was and that this turkey was raised and killed (organic or not) and suffered so that we could fill our bellies full of it. This ruined Thanksgiving, this was not a day to give Thanks, it was a day of horrendous animal sacrifices for the people. I couldn't cook it. I will never cook any creature again for my consumption or anyone elses. I don't believe humans are Carnivores, we are Herbivores. Our intestines are just like a rabbit's, not a coyote or tiger. Since I became a vegetarian, I feel stronger (even when I get sick), I never have indigestion problems. I feel stronger spiritually, physically and emotionally. Please check out this sight:

for three years have not consumed animal products, except occasional eggs and cheese - yes, bad! just trying to not freak out too much my husband, who has reduced his animal product intake - so that's a small victory! i gently suggest to my family and friends why i feel this way to at least try to get them to think about it; i've had some success with that too! one dilemma = my three indoor cats, i was checking into cat vegan-food, but a vet (and vegan) friend of mine said felines must consume meat.

I am a vegan, so all of my days are meatless! However, transitioning from a meat based diet can be difficult for some, so I really suggest committing to three days a week to form the habit of eating meals without meat. After a while, going meatless becomes second nature!
