CHOSA

Mission

Our Mission is to identify and support community based organizations (CBOs) that reach out and take care of orphans and other vulnerable children in South Africa.

CHOSA takes a holistic approach to the community development process.  We operate through partnerships with local organizations, enabling them to address the immediate needs of the children while simultaneously striving for long-term transformation of the social environment.  This comprehensive approach is rooted in the realization that sustainable change will come from within the community when participation leads to local action, self-empowerment and community-owned development.

Programs

We support the following community-based organizations in Cape Town, South Africa:

- Baphumelele Children's Home
- Emasithandane Children's Project
- Ubuhle Babantwana Care Centre
- The Amandla Ku Lutsha Soccer League
- The Childrens Arts Initiative
- The Township Baseball Academy
- The Philani Family Fund
- The Sisonke School in Port St Johns

CHOSA Ethics:

- Communities should control and participate in their own development.
- Helping children requires helping the community as a whole.
- Fundraising should be conducted in an ethical and efficient manner.
