Back-to-School Drive!

Sadly, thousands of Florida's children dread the first day of school … but not simply because of summer’s end. Their anxiety is borne of homes and lives in turmoil.

Some struggle in families deeply affected by today’s poor economy, arriving hungry or wearing shoes they’ve outgrown. Others, who’ve suffered abuse or abandonment by troubled parents, must start the year on unfamiliar ground … new school, new classmates, new foster family.

These children need much more than basic supplies. Yes, they rely on us for common school supplies, but we provide even more essential support: help to conquer hidden demons caused by family tragedies. Many count on our counseling and guidance while they struggle to understand why they can no longer live safely at home. Still hundreds more need our services to learn how to prepare for independence at 18, hoping they can finish their education to become successful adults.
