Save Darfur

Mission:
Working for an end to the ongoing genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan, and demanding peace and security for the two million people in Darfur
Founder:
Megan F. Megan F. , Washington, DC
Description:
Since February 2003, the Sudanese government in Khartoum and the government-sponsored Janjaweed militia have used rape, displacement, organized starvation and mass murder to kill more than 400,000 and displace 2.5 million. Violence, disease and displacement continue to kill thousands of innocent Darfurians every month. Long-term peace in Darfur requires that the government of Sudan, the Janjaweed militia forces and the rebel groups of Darfur find a way to resolve their political and economic disputes. We must support those organizations and leaders who are working for peace.

Can not turn away

from Sue C.  Vline2  Jun 03

To dehumanize or try to potentially exterminate your fellow man/woman is a issue that can not be ignored.

Responsibility

from charlie w.  Vline2  Mar 14

Genocide has been the tool of oppression excercised through wrongly appointed dictators. Sometimes these dictators are appointed by democratic countries. In the case of Darfur, China, who has immense influence over Sudaness politics has an opportunity to make an impact on the genocide but yet takes a passive stance. The employment of neutrality does not release responsibility.

Why do I support this Change?

from Sam W.  Vline2  Mar 12

Simply because it's the right thing to do!  I look around America today and see problems like a corrupt government, a good ol boy network that spands all the way down Pennsylvania Avenue, and people who have actually CHOSEN to live in poverty, but can still make it by living on the income that they get panning money, and the state pays for their sicknesses.  America is a democracy that was set up by our fouding fathers to assure everyone they were free to be and do as they wanted within the boundaries of law.  The more time went on, people and human nature distorted the truths that we used to hold self evident.  So basically, we are the land of the free, "MONEY."  Anyone in America can make a fortune, and anyone can forget who they are or where they come from!  But there, in the Darfur Region, they have no choice but to forget where they are from and who they were.  They are dying just because of a group of militant bastards who are being supplied with enough guns to wipe out all of Korea (by everybodies favorite country CHINA) so that they can gun down people of a different color.  I have been inspired by the Templar Knights and the Masonic Degree to do a will of calling for God, and go over there and make a difference.  It's where my passion is, and the rest of my dreams lye.  I intend on leaving for three years once I'm there to go to Seminary to become an Episcopal Priest, and coming back and working full time at a mission in Uganda, and then eventually up to Chad.  I hope they put a blog on here so I can use tit to update all of you new friends.  I also have lots of writings that have even been published that I would love to put up here too!  Anyway, thanks for letting me in, and I promise I will make you proud!

from Tania E.  Vline2  Mar 01

It is devastating and horrible to see so many people dying and suffering for no reason. I know that stoping the cause it very hard but not impossible. Also, while the cause of all the suffering is still creating havok, there are people that needs help and assistance.

I believe that we can do it! I believe that there is hope!

Southern Sudan

from Ashley B.  Vline2  Feb 05

I support this change because the Government has bullied one region after another through out Sudan.  I have studied the conflict of the South for years and would like to see a better outcome in the West.
