Improving global exchange

The opportunities that surround us to cross borders - national, ethnic, racial, class, age, religious - and partner with fellow global citizens to produce change have never been greater, but the burden is on us to think more deeply about what real global exchange is. We need to move from "development" to "engagement", from "donation" to "investment," from "beneficiary" to "partner."
This group is focused on discussing best practices for good global exchange - through volunteerism, service-learning, whatever. How have people succesfully crossed borders? What can we do to improve the reciprocity and exchange and make our global relationships more meaningful?
