Eliminate Child Labor Worldwide

- Mission:
- Working towards the elimination of child labor worldwide
- Founder:

- Description:

The U.N.'s International Labor Organization estimates that there are 218 million child laborers worldwide. In some countries, such as Cambodia and Mali, anywhere between 25-65% of children are forced to work. From Madagascan granite to Indian cotton to Guatemalan bananas, child labor produces the backbone of our global supply chains.
As citizens we must demand that international trade agreements protect young workers and prohibit abusive practices. As consumers we must strive every day to make responsible decisions. The products we buy and brands we wear reflect our commitment to ending child labor. - Impact:

I support this change because it is utterly wrong to make anyone a slave, especially a child! I believe a child should be free to live a life of imagination, creativity and fun, without the common worries of an adult. I understand that in some countries children work because their families are poor, but I think it should never be forced on anyone. I also think that the U.S. supports this way too much by doing business with companies who use children as slaves in the workforce.

Everyone is entitled to a decent and happy childhood. No one should be deprived of such childhood and be subjected to atrocities and hardship. Child labor shouldnt be allowed in our so called modern society. We all have a duty to put a stop to that.
Because children have a right to education, food and freedom of spirit

When you understand poverty, you will understand why children from poor homes are sent to work at less than half of adult wages. Burdened by debt and illness parents force children to factories and places with poor work conditions so that at least SOME money comes into the home. The solution has to be governmental intervention. In many places in India when a child is sent to school it earns a small bag of rice and/or a meal. Even this is incentive for the parents to NOT send the child to work--after all the child is not hungry. If only something like this can be implemented in a larger way then concrete steps towards eradication of child labor will have been made.

No child should have to go through this. These kids are younger than me and working hard to support their families.A change has to take place now!

I support this change because no child should have to be forced to choose between feeding their family and having an education and a healthy and happy childhood.
