Recently, a woman in Florida was arrested on charges of felony child neglect after struggling to raise a child with Lissencephaly. Sadly, situations like this happen way too often. Public health officials, as well as the general public, need to be more aware of the struggles parents face as they raise children with birth defects.
This awareness needs to lead to action to help parents with these struggles. - Impact:
