Stop AIDS in Africa

Mission:
Fighting to stop the spread of AIDS in Africa
Founder:
Mia W. Mia W. , Santa Barbara, CA
Description:
Sub-Saharan Africa has been disproportionately devastated by the AIDS virus, home to 60% of infected individuals worldwide. An estimated 25 million African people are currently living with HIV/AIDS, and about 2 million people on the continent die of the virus every year. Behind these incomprehensible numbers are millions upon millions of real lives, individual stories, and relationships permanently altered by the preventable disease. We must push with all of our might to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa by any means necessary, including increased assistance in the forms of medical, economic, and educational resources.

Stopping AIDS in Africa

from Mike W.  Vline2  Mar 02

I'm going to Botswana with the Peace Corps in April to fight HIV/AIDS. This disease attacks over economic fault lines. We must help pull those less fortunate than us out of danger as much as possible.

THEY ARE NO LESS HUMAN!

from Andrea J.  Vline2  Jan 24

AIDS is a dreadful reality we all face in the world today.Developing countries like Africa and South-East Asian countries are the worst hit in this pandemic that's fast becoming a nightmare, and probably already is.Even so, we must realize that people suffering from AIDS are just as human as we are, born with a mind, body and soul like the rest of us.They are part of the same human race as we are, and therefore must be treated as equals. We have absolutely no right to look down upon these people, or mete out inferior treatment because they suffer from the disease. As fellow humans, each one of us has a moral obligation and duty to respect these individuals and make every effort to ease the pain from their lives. They not only suffer from physical pain, but also suffer from the agony of living in isolation and ignorance from the society, being deprived of mental and emotional comfort and ofcourse from the stigma the society attaches to them.Right to life is a fundamental human right, which must not at any cost be compromised. That does not mean, that you let them be the way they are, they need your compassion and your support. And it's not just about Africa here, it's about every region, every country, evey continent and every INDIVIDUAL that suffers from AIDS.We have a common creator, and we are accountable to him alone.May god bless them all!

Stopping the Spread of AIDS and Saving Those Who Have It

Worst epidemic aside poverty...

from WolfLair P.  Vline2  Nov 16, 2007

It's not an option, plain and simple.  To save one you must go to the worst place and work from there.  You cannot just save the ones in your "backyard" but must go further past the saftey of our own homes and offices.

The problem is many feel why get involved?  It's not their fault so why pay for anothers problems?

At one of our very first fundraisers, a woman asked me if we were locally based.  I kindly said no and smiled, however she gave a short snort and walked off in a huff.  Later I found out many people feel that you're taking away from the community if you work outside it.

I don't know about you but the bible said "Love one another as you would love yourself."  So that to me means everyone ALL OVER.

We desperately need to working along side each other and put aside our differeces, for  the good of human-kind and all other living creatures, great and small, black and white.

Poor or rich, AIDS doesn't discriminate remember that, and the children in third world countries are often left either to die or on hospital steps because the family's cannot afford to care for them or are too ashamed.

REMEMBER:

"To DREAM - makes HOPE - to hope - makes REALITY."
