Make Poverty History Campaign

Mission:
Raise your voice to the Eradication of Poverty
Founder:
Dana C. Dana C. ,
Description:
At the start of the 21st century 1.2 billion people live in abject poverty. More than 800 million people go to bed hungry and 50,000 people die every day from poverty-related causes. Poverty exists because of the choices we make. It exists because we have: insufficient and ineffective aid an unjust global trade system a debt burden for poor countries that is so great that it suffocates any chance of recovery an unwillingness to invest enough in social development It doesn't have to be this way. If we choose - if we have the will to act - we can make poverty history. Over five years ago, all members of the United Nations committed to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to meet minimum targets to reduce poverty, hunger, illiteracy, discrimination against women... Poverty is a disgrace to the human race!

from Tamara G.  Vline2  May 17

There are many reasons why
About poverty we must cry.
Every man was created equal
Why then somebody’s life is meager?

A poor man’s problems are a real bear.
His days are a constant and endless care.
He has strong desire to live a life
That’s not a disgrace to a human race.

So many men who are well-offy
Can help the poor by sharing some profit
With them whose income is too scanty.
The rich will not suffer, for they have plenty.

Do not hesitate and open your heart
To brothers and sisters in all the parts
Of our globe. You’ll save the race
And then your life wouldn’t be a disgrace.
Tamara

THE Master Stroke?

from Vinod B.  Vline2  May 14

We can whittle away at the problem of people living in poverty over several decades and perhaps a century or two more OR we can also go for the Master Stroke while such efforts are going on:
1.2 trillion are spent on War. Whi;e to achieve the MDGs, in addition to current global expenditures, only 100 billion more every year are needed ! Thats one-tenth of the military expenditures

All that is OUR money !

We need to create more and more global citizens. Once there is a dissolving of the fiction of 'Us' and 'Them' war ceases and that amount including resources such as metals and petroleum, training institutes and ships and millions of other resources will be made available to go where they ought to. For Survival, Happiness and Security for one and all.

Let us try for the piece-meal approach AS WELL AS the master stroke.

Dissolve all barriers. Inspire more Global Citizens.

POVERTY

from Lindsey M.  Vline2  Sep 10, 2007

Poverty in America, as well as the world, is a huge issue. I just feel that if someone stands up to make a difference, more will follow. Things like this take time, and with the Lord's help, we can accomplish our goals. We need to take action against this. We cannot live in a world where we have it so well, and others are sleeping on the streets, struggling to survive, for God's sakes. How can you sleep at night knowing that? It's not always their fault, and I'm here to do my part to make a difference in the lives of mankind. Get out there and make a difference!
