Founder of Open Eye Pictures, Andy Abrahams Wilson is a multi-award winning, Emmy-nominated producer and director of creative non-fiction films. He holds degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Southern California, where he received an MA in visual anthropology and studied at the USC Film School.
Wilson's most recent production, Under Our Skin, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and earned five best documentary awards at international film festivals. Currently in theatrical release, the film has been selected as one of a handful of documentaries for Variety's pre-Oscar screening series. A dramatic exposé of the Lyme disease epidemic and the corrupt health care system it implicates, Under Our Skin is impacting policy and public consciousness as it finds its way into theaters, living rooms and legislatures. Wilson's past productions include the PBS broadcast The Caregivers, the HBO special Bubbeh Lee & Me, and Hope Is the Thing with Feathers, broadcast on the Sundance Channel. Professional honors include a Pew Charitable Trust fellowship, Outstanding Documentary Achievement by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and Artist of the Year by the Northern California Marin Arts Council. Wilson is a past Budget Director of the film distribution cooperative New Day Films and former member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
He has received numerous foundation grants, including the California Council for the Humanities, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Laurance Rockefeller Foundation, the Columbia Foundation, and the Educational Foundation of America.
In workshops worldwide and at the Esalen Institute, Wilson teaches photography and video as a means of connecting our own human nature to the natural world.
